Transform Your Plein Air Paintings by Learning Directly From the World’s Best Landscape Artist

Have you ever listened to a symphony? Dozens of musicians, all playing different parts.Yet somehow, it comes together as one powerful piece of music.

Just like a symphony, plein air painting depends on harmony. When every detail fights for attention, the painting falls flat. But when the right elements lead, the composition sings with emotion and originality.

In this course, you’ll sit beside Clyde as he paints a real spring-green landscape en plein air, from start to finish. With his calm, thoughtful instruction, you’ll see exactly what he’s thinking and why he makes each decision.

Meet Your Instructor, Clyde Aspevig!

Clyde Aspevig is a master artist with a style that’s instantly recognizable. His work has been exhibited across the US and internationally, earning prestigious awards and recognition from major institutions.

His journey into landscape painting began on a Montana farm, surrounded by mountains and natural beauty. That early immersion in nature shaped his approach to plein air painting.

What sets Clyde apart is his unique fusion of visual mastery and musical thinking.

Trained as a classical pianist, music deeply influences his paintings, which he describes as “silent music” or “visual music.”

What You’ll Discover Inside:

A clear, repeatable blueprint to paint plein air with unshakable confidence — no matter what landscape you’re facing.

Advanced color-control techniques that prevent muddy spring greens and command dynamic temperature shifts that bring luminosity to your work.

Clyde’s secret methods for capturing light instead of chasing it, so your paintings feel intentional and complete.

How to direct the viewer’s eye and craft balanced designs that guide attention exactly where you want it.

…And so much more!

Clyde is an amazing artist and this video goes beyond the typical 'how to' approach used in many art videos. Clyde shares many of his insights, some technical aspects of painting, and gives reasons why art is important to humanity. I highly recommend getting the dvd combo because the painttube app did not work well for me.

Clyde Aspevig: Plein Air Painting with Clyde Aspevig

I just finished watching this demo with Clyde Aspevig and it was one of those videos that actually changes how you see. His colour mixing is spot-on—so faithful to the real outdoor light—and he touches on so many useful aspects of plein air painting along the way. The standout for me was his point about clouds reflecting what’s happening in the scene below… huge “aha.” Definitely a rewatch (more than once), and I can see myself revisiting it before I paint outdoors.

A master of his craft

What could be more enlightening than watching a master at work? His quiet confidence is so inspiring. I've been painting plein air for years but still learn things by watching Clyde Aspevig. I've been a fan for a long time. Thank you Streamline-PaintTube for bringing him to our homes.

Thank you for making this video with every aspect of plein air painting and no distractions . The sound of the train in the distance and the birds transported me to the same meadow. I am struck by the limited brushes used and the repetitive use of the same color and brush without muddying up the color. I have always used smaller brushes and riggers on my small scale plein air paintings and always ended up with too much detail that ruined the free feeling of the scene. Please make more!

Exquisite

I am a big fan of Clyde's work, but find this is a must see video for anyone who paints on site. His quiet insight and very real struggle to capture the form and beauty of the scene is truly inspiring. I am particularly struck by his effort to tone down the chroma so that his work comes together on a whisper of color.
