Discover The Original 600-Year-Old Classical-Realist Painting Techniques With Master Artist Daniel Graves
Travel back in time with the founder of the prestigious “Florence Academy of Art” as he reveals the most authentic ancient painting secrets of the Old Masters!
Dear Traditional Artists,
Modernism has taken the world by storm, brushing aside traditional painting as we know it.
The days of representing reality or realism through a narrative are fading.
Many of us have been trying to bring back traditional painting to the masses, but it’s getting harder than ever. It was even declared irrelevant!
For over 600 years, artists of old passed their techniques down to selected apprentices.
Inspired by their mentors, these eager understudies felt called to devote their entire lives to painting, leading them to become some of the finest artists of their own generation.
Ancient techniques like cleaning your own oil… preserving your painting so it’ll last hundreds of years… or hand-grinding your own pigments… or using linen cloth and rabbit skin glue… are slowly being forgotten.
In fact, just 40 years ago, hardly anyone in the world could paint like the Old Masters.
Today, there are only a few “surviving” traditional artists… and even fewer artists who can instruct others on how to do it well!
Choosing to master this highly respected technique will put you as one of the very few artists who can actually do it…
But the biggest problem is few artists get the chance to learn this technique - the top schools are not affordable or easily accessible to most.
That’s why we at Streamline Publishing are doing everything we can to bridge this gap.
We’re pulling this best-seller out of the vault so you can experience today what it’s like to study under the great masters six centuries ago .
Right now, you have the opportunity to travel back 600 years ago and learn how the Old Masters created their magic… all in the comfort of your own home!
Join the founder of the prestigious Florence Academy of Art himself, Master Artist Daniel Graves, as he reveals the ancient techniques!
Why study with Daniel Graves?
“I am not part of a post contemporary movement.
I am connected to a tradition that never ever stopped.”
– Daniel Graves, Founder of The Florence Academy of Art
Daniel Graves’s rich background of art training is impressive.
He’s one of the rare few who has mastered and has the brilliant ability to teach the ways of the Old Masters.
Born in Rochester, New York, his journey began in Maryland Art Institute in 1972 where he graduated after having studied under Joseph Shepard and Frank Russell. He continued his studies at the Villa Schifanoia Graduate School of Fine Art in Florence, Italy, with Richard Serrin.
Following a course of training with Richard Lack in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he taught at the Atelier Lack Studio of Fine Art.
In the late 1970s, Graves returned to Florence and undertook individual study with Nerina Simi, who maintained a classical nineteenth-century studio.
Ms. Simi was the daughter of the Florentine painter Filadelfo Simi, who had studied with Jean-Leon Gerome, the head of the French Academy in Paris in the 1870s.
All that experience paved the path for him to create a style of oil painting that blends the Florentine tradition of Simi and the master classical realist Pietro Annigoni with the draftsmanship of the French artist Charles Bargue's Cours des Dessins and Academie Julien.
Daniel Graves joined Charles Cecil to found Studio Cecil-Graves in Florence, where he trained many practitioners of classical realism for nearly a decade.
Graves then established The Florence Academy of Art in 1991… and it has been in the forefront of classical realist art education for nearly twenty years!
You’ll appreciate that Daniel is an absolute purist; he makes all his materials, grinds his own paint, and even makes his own charcoal and chalk!
You just can’t get any more authentic than this!
Without a doubt, studying under Daniel allows you to experience the original 600-year-old techniques once used by the Old Masters.
Today, you have the chance to learn from such a knowledgeable artist.
“When I began watching this video, my heart began to pound… this must be what it was like to learn from the Old Masters!”

Presenting Streamline Publishing’s
BEST-SELLING Video:
“Old World Portraiture with Daniel Graves”
This best-selling 4-hour-long video is a time-capsule featuring a huge part of art history.
It contains the most authentic and genuine painting instruction that was passed down from generations ago.
We created this video because we wanted to preserve the time-honored techniques of the Old Masters so that future generations of artists will get to experience them.
Thanks to modernism, traditional art is slowly fading away, so immortalizing these “lost” techniques became one of our highest priorities.
In fact, the task was so important that the crew flew to Florence, Italy to capture the FULL experience of studying under a living master.
In this video, Daniel Graves will take you through all the steps of his painting process, showing you how to create this gorgeous piece:
“I bought Daniel Graves Tutorial DVD Painting Portraiture and as an Artist who attended some workshops in Florence Academy/Italy, I can say it was amazing. I have already watched the video more than 10 times. Everything in that video reminds me of The Florence Academy method of painting. Even his Wooden palette, and the oil-paints he chooses for his palette are all good.”

“Old World Portraiture”
Discover The Original Techniques of the Old Masters
If you want to know exactly how the Old Masters painted 600 years ago, this video has it.
You’ll discover various techniques, like using “cold pressed linseed oil” as a medium. In fact, he even shows you how to make sun-thickened linseed oil yourself!
He’ll also reveal his methods for hand-grinding pigments and explain why this is critical to achieving the most brilliant colors.
You’ll also get to see how he prepares his canvas by using a linen cloth and rabbit skin glue - an old Renaissance technique created to protect the canvas from substances in the paint that could act on it.
The depth of information inside this best-seller will have you watching it repeatedly, giving you something new to think about every time you consume it.
Watch How Daniel Matches His Model’s Pose With The Mood He Wants
You’ll get to see how he first comes up with an idea, and then how he works the mood he wants into the pose.
He also talks about sight-sizing, its eye-opening history, and also how he uses different tools like a plumb line.
In the demo, you’ll get to see his palette and how he’s mixing up his paint mixtures to achieve the right skin tone.
Thanks to intuitive “artist perspective” camera angles, you’ll get to see the model and the painting at the same size so you’ll see exactly what Graves is seeing!
How To Make Your Paintings Last HUNDREDS of Years
Few artists understand this technique.
Daniel is going to show you how to clean your own oil so your paintings will last for HUNDREDS of years without yellowing.
Daniel claims that store-bought materials simply cannot match the quality of painting fluidity and the archival life of his cleaned oil.
We’ve documented the entire process on high-definition video for the very first time since its inception 600 years ago.
If there’s just ONE thing to take away from this video, it’s this segment!
Here’s a summary of what you’ll discover inside “Old World Portraiture”:
“Daniel Graves will take you through the complete painting process from making your own oils, the materials he uses and why, and how to apply a successful ground and imprimatura to your canvas.
He will explain the importance of how the light falls on your subject, values, and how to make your portrait more interesting by provoking a mood from your sitter. This video is playing most of the time in my studio no matter what I am painting.”
