Ryan Fox: Innovative Watercolor Techniques

WRITE A REVIEW

Format
Video Length: 2 Hours 10 Minutes

Discover a process that allows you to work quickly and spontaneously. In Innovative Watercolor Techniques with Ryan Fox, you’ll spend more time creating lively layers and less time worrying about careful line work or moisture control. You’ll work light to dark and then protect your values with wax — a process that is incredibly forgiving. Discover how to think more in shapes and less in individual items like trees, buildings, and animals. Use negative painting to add important contrast, and let your pigments mingle on your paper to create beautiful and spontaneous-looking colors with each pass. Ryan works through two complete batik demos including an urban landscape and a giraffe.

INTERESTING TECHNIQUE

Very interesting! I am anxious to get something to keep my wax in at the right temperature. Then I can try out this technique. Thank you for creating this video.

Another great tutorial by Ryan!

I really like Ryan's teaching style; it is though I am in the studio with him and he is teaching me on a personal level, sharing so many of his secrets and tips in using texture to achieve the results he is well-known for. I never heard of the methods he uses to give his paintings so much texture, and I will forever treasure every single one after watching this tutorial. Thanks Ryan and Paint Tube for pulling this together. Well-done!

Fun with Wax & Watercolor

Great video. I have painted with Kathie George and this video refreshes all that I love about watercolors and wax. Like his technique and explanation about his art.
