Painting from life is a challenge that is most easily accomplished in the studio with a still-life setup, where one can control all the conditions. This project is designed to show how to create a painting working from life, from the first stroke to the last.

Composition, value and color are all explored using the setup as a tool to explain how the concepts are developed on canvas.

The focus of the demonstration is to show how light creates the forms and how color is used to interpret the behavior of the light.
